When you apply, you’ll also choose an academic major, which falls into three tiers related to the Navy’s needs. Getting Physical and Paperwork
Don’t think you can just click ‘Submit’ and be done. There’s an Applicant Fitness Assessment (AFA) to conquer. These include a Statement of Understanding, a Debarment Statement, and a Drug Statement. These can’t be witnessed by family members, so no asking mom or dad to vouch for you!
Interviews and Recommendations
You’ll also need to schedule an officer interview and ensure that your teacher recommendations, transcripts, and test scores are all received on time. The deadline for your complete application, including these, is February 15.
After You Apply
Board Ready
Once everything’s in, your application goes through multiple stages, and eventually, it’ll be “Board Ready.” A Selection Board made up of senior officers reviews it, and if you get selected, you’ll be informed via email and snail mail.
